A new batch of low-carbon emission steel products has been released

    February 6, 2026

On January 15th, at the 2026 Steel Industry LCA Working Group Annual Meeting, the Chinese steel industry ushered in another important moment – the official release of the first batch of 11 low-carbon emission steel products for 2026. These products cover core products from benchmark enterprises such as Shagang Group, Baosteel’s Qingshan Base, Zhongnan Steel, Baogang Steel, and Jinnan Steel. The Chinese steel industry demonstrates through action that it is accelerating the crucial leap from technological breakthroughs to product implementation in the field of low-carbon transformation, providing a replicable and scalable Chinese solution for global industrial carbon reduction.

All the low-carbon emission steel products released this time have passed the rigorous C2F low-carbon emission steel evaluation system certification. Relevant information has been officially published on the low-carbon emission steel release platform (www.C2Fsteel.com), showcasing the firm determination of China’s leading steel enterprises to “move towards green.”

Currently, an increasing number of leading steel enterprises are participating in the low-carbon emission steel product evaluation work, marking a new stage in the development of low-carbon steel from benchmark leadership to ecological co-construction. Steel companies such as Sichuan Metallurgical Control, Jinan Steel, Hongtai Steel, Xinda Steel, and Baigong Steel have officially launched a new batch of low-carbon emission steel product evaluations, expanding low-carbon practices from individual factories to industrial clusters. More notably, the application scenarios for low-carbon steel are rapidly expanding: lightweight bodies for new energy vehicles, giant offshore wind turbine towers, low-carbon building steel structures… These green products not only reduce the carbon footprint of end users but also, driven by market demand, compel upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain to collaborate on technological innovation, building a closed-loop green ecosystem of “production-application-feedback.”

As a key participant and leader in the global steel industry, China’s steel industry has consistently been committed to promoting the standardization of low-carbon transformation. From pioneering the release of the group standard “Evaluation Method for Low-Carbon Emission Steel,” establishing a “measuring stick” for industry carbon reduction, to building China’s first low-carbon emission steel release platform, creating an important bridge for green product display and trading, China’s steel industry has completed the leap from standard setter to ecosystem builder.

The release of the first batch of low-carbon emission steel products in 2026 is a concrete practice of China’s steel industry in achieving its “dual-carbon” goals and a positive response to global industrial carbon reduction. In the future, Chinese steel companies will continue to drive development through technological innovation, deepen supply chain collaboration, and expand the application of low-carbon steel, contributing Chinese wisdom and strength to the global steel industry’s green transformation. The green journey has no end, and carbon reduction efforts will never cease. The Chinese steel industry is demonstrating its responsibility as a major power through concrete actions, resolutely forging ahead on the path of promoting the low-carbon transformation of global industry!
