Tin-Free Steel (TFS), also formally known as Electrolytic Chromium-Coated Steel (ECCS) in many industrial contexts, is a specialized metal substrate designed as a cost-effective, high-performance alternative to traditional tinplate (tin-plated steel). Unlike tinplate—where a thin layer of tin is electroplated or hot-dipped onto low-carbon steel—TFS eliminates tin entirely, instead relying on advanced surface coatings to deliver corrosion resistance, formability, and compatibility with end-use applications.
