Baosteel and Nanjing Iron &amp; Steel Selected for the First Batch of &#8220;Leading-Level&#8221; Smart Factory Cultivation List<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On November 27, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the list of &#8220;Leading-Level&#8221; smart factory projects for 2025, with two steel companies, Baosteel and Nanjing Iron &amp; Steel, among those selected. Baosteel, after 30 years of development, has completed a three-level leap from &#8220;informatization to digitalization to intelligentization,&#8221; playing a demonstrative role in the digital transformation of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sumecmetal.com\/es\/\">steel industry<\/a>. Nanjing Iron &amp; Steel, under the top-level design of &#8220;one brain and three centers,&#8221; has built a five-level digital twin system covering &#8220;equipment-production line-factory-enterprise-ecosystem,&#8221; realizing the transformation from single-point application to full-process digital intelligent layout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The construction of smart factories is an important direction for implementing the national manufacturing power strategy and promoting the digital transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry. Currently, with the rapid development of new-generation artificial intelligence and other digital technologies, the accelerated integration of the real economy and the digital economy, increasingly fierce global industrial competition, and the continuous advancement of new industrialization, smart manufacturing urgently needs to evolve to a higher level. By establishing a tiered cultivation system for smart factories, and promoting construction in a layered and systematic manner, it is helpful to improve the standards and evaluation system for smart manufacturing, solidify the digital and networked foundation of the manufacturing industry, and lead the intelligent transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">II. &#8220;AI+&#8221; Empowering and Promoting the Intelligent Transformation of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sumecmetal.com\/es\/\">Steel Industry<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 14, 2025, Hebei Iron &amp; Steel Group comprehensively deployed the &#8220;AI+&#8221; action, focusing on five dimensions: management, marketing, manufacturing, R&amp;D, and green low-carbon development, to accelerate its transformation into a &#8220;fully intelligent&#8221; steel enterprise. On June 21, Nanjing Iron &amp; Steel, in conjunction with Huawei, released the &#8220;Yuanye\u00b7Steel Big Model&#8221; and promoted the joint construction of high-quality industrial datasets and the construction of a trustworthy data space for the industrial chain. On July 27th, Baoxin Software launched the &#8220;AI + Manufacturing&#8221; Baoliandeng Industrial Intelligent Computing Cloud Platform, building a full-stack industrial AI capability covering computing power, data, models, scenarios, and intelligent agents. On August 18th, the National Key Laboratory of Digital Steel at Northeastern University released its practices in implementing next-generation AI in processes such as ironmaking, steelmaking, continuous casting, and hot rolling. On October 11th, at the 6th China Iron and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sumecmetal.com\/es\/\">Steel Industry<\/a>\u00a0Intelligent Manufacturing Development Conference, Benxi Steel officially released &#8220;AI + Empowering Production and Manufacturing Scenarios,&#8221; exploring an AI implementation path of &#8220;management first, business driven, and technology solidified,&#8221; focusing on three core scenarios: ironmaking cost optimization, intelligent energy analysis, and intelligent data platform. Yiyuan Intelligent Maintenance released a large-scale metallurgical equipment maintenance model, focusing on intelligent operation and maintenance throughout the entire equipment lifecycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">III. Large-Scale Application of Chinese\u00a0High-End PLCs in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sumecmetal.com\/es\/\">Steel Industry<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 22, 2025, Shanghai Baoxin Software Co., Ltd.&#8217;s independently developed large-scale PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) product\u2014Tianxing T4\u2014successfully achieved large-scale industrial application on the continuous annealing unit production line of Guangxi Hongwang New Material Technology Co., Ltd. Furthermore, it demonstrated its ability to compete with international giants in the field of high-end industrial control, breaking the long-term monopoly of foreign brands in the field of large-scale, complex, and highly reliable industrial control, proving that Chinese&nbsp;high-end PLCs can fully meet the stringent requirements of modern large-scale industrial production lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since their release, Tianxing T3 and T4 have been successfully applied in industrial scenarios such as Baosteel&#8217;s 104 unit (leveling machine) and the three-electric system upgrade of heavy plate mills at Chongqing Iron &amp; Steel Group. The recent deployment of Tianxing T4 at Guangxi Hongwang&#8217;s large-scale continuous annealing unit is larger and more complete than previous deployments, making it highly representative and showcasing Baoxin Software&#8217;s strong technical capabilities in the field of independently controllable industrial software. It sets a benchmark for the localization of core control systems for large-scale, high-speed, and continuous production lines in China&#8217;s metallurgical industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IV. Chinese&nbsp;GIC General-Purpose Intelligent Controller Officially Released for Embedded Intelligent Manufacturing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 25, 2025, MCC Southern officially released the GIC general-purpose intelligent controller. This product breaks through the traditional paradigm of programmable logic controllers (PLCs). By pioneering the integration of five core capabilities\u2014communication, sensing, computing, control, and drive\u2014it will propel industrial automation into a new stage of &#8220;embodied intelligent manufacturing,&#8221; enabling autonomous perception, decision-making, and execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GIC controller achieves fundamental technological changes in three dimensions: At the sensing level, it can not only access traditional industrial signals such as temperature and pressure, but also directly process complex multimodal information such as machine vision images and spatial positions, equipping equipment with &#8220;eyes&#8221; and &#8220;sensors.&#8221; &nbsp;At the decision-making and control level, based on the aforementioned sensing and computing capabilities, it can autonomously optimize control strategies according to real-time operating conditions, achieving a leap from rigid program execution to flexible intelligent adaptation. The GIC controller brings the cutting-edge concept of embodied intelligence from the laboratory to the industrial field, truly endowing machines with &#8220;intelligence&#8221;\u2014the ability to autonomously adapt and optimize in open and dynamic environments\u2014by pushing sensing, cognition, and execution capabilities down to the edge of equipment. The GIC controller demonstrates three major innovative advantages: flexible configuration for adaptable setup, edge intelligence for real-time response, and robust IT security for full-stack autonomy. Currently, the controller has been successfully implemented and validated in scenarios such as centralized control of the entire water treatment process in large steel enterprises, multi-drive IoT applications in high-end lifting equipment, and special robots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">V.
